- A peak flow meter is a flow meter designed to measure peak expiratory flow (PEF) as part of a management program for asthma and bronchitis. It measures the fastest speed at which a person can exhale air from their lungs.
- The peak flow meter can be used to diagnose asthma, or potential asthma attacks, by measuring airflow. For better control of attacks, a chart should be kept to record the results obtained daily (one or more times, according to medical instructions).
