How to correctly measure compression stockings?
Measuring your legs correctly makes all the difference in the comfort and benefits of compression stockings. The right choice helps improve the sensation of tired legs and daily well-being.
When is the best time to measure?
Ideally, you should measure your legs in the morning, right after waking up. During this period, the legs have not yet suffered the swelling caused by long periods of standing or sitting, which makes the measurements more accurate to reality.
Essential leg measurements
Measurements vary depending on the length of the chosen stocking:
- Ankle: measure the thinnest part, just above the bone;
- Calves: measure the widest part of the leg below the knee;
- Thigh: necessary for thigh-high stockings or pantyhose, at the widest part, a few centimetres below the groin.
Stocking length
-
Knee-high stockings: measure from the floor to about two fingers below the knee.
- Thigh-high stockings: measure from the floor to approximately five centimetres below the groin.

Tips for choosing correctly
Always measure both legs and use the larger measurement. The tape measure should be snug, without constricting. Consult the brand's size chart, as there may be variations. If the stocking causes pain, tingling, or deep marks, the size may not be suitable.
